Why I'm running

A representative who shows up for District 46

My name is Rocklin Youngstrom, and I’m running for State House District 46 because I believe our community deserves leadership that is accessible, accountable, and focused on the future.

Politics and public service have been a part of my life since I was 16 years old. Over the years, I’ve worked on campaigns, engaged with community leaders, and gained firsthand experience at the Hawaiʻi State Legislature. Those experiences showed me how government can make a real difference in people’s lives and inspired me to step forward and serve my community.

I am proud to stand for Republican values such as personal responsibility, limited government, strong families, and public safety. My faith is also an important part of who I am, and the values that guide me, integrity, service, compassion, and accountability, are rooted in my relationship with God.

When I talk with people across District 46, I hear the same concerns over and over again: homelessness, crime, public safety, and the damage and flooding caused by the recent Kona Low storms. As your representative, I will work to make our communities safer, support efforts to address homelessness, and fight for the funding needed to improve our infrastructure and better prepare for future storms. I will push for projects that matter to our district, including more sidewalks, repairs to critical infrastructure, and improvements that make our neighborhoods safer and stronger. Most importantly, I will listen to residents, be accessible to the community, and work every day to make sure District 46’s needs are being heard and addressed at the State Capitol.

Fighting for our district

State House decisions shape housing, schools, and everyday costs in District 46. This page outlines where I stand—and what I will fight for at the Capitol.

Public Safety

Families deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods, parks, schools, and local businesses. I support increasing resources for law enforcement, strengthening Neighborhood Watch, and ensuring first responders have the resources they need to keep our communities safe.

Education & Our Keiki

Our children are the future of Hawaiʻi, and they deserve every opportunity to succeed. I support strong public schools, safe learning environments, and policies that help students reach their full potential. We must continue investing in education while also ensuring parents still have a voice in their children's future.

Homelessness & Housing

We must connect houseless individuals with services while also keeping our neighborhoods, parks, and public spaces safe and welcoming for families. Stable housing and stronger communities create better opportunities for children and help local families thrive.

Community & Cost of Living

I will fight for investments in flood mitigation, sidewalk improvements, infrastructure repairs, and projects that make our communities safer and more resilient. I will also support policies that help working families keep more of what they earn.
